secretary of state john kerry has been in the region meeting with palestinian, israeli and other leadersncluding ban ki-moon, the united nations secretary-general. let's assess where everyone stands as far as a cease fair is concerned between israel and hamas. the founder of the palestinian national initiative is a key member of the palestinian parliament. he's joining us live from ramallah on the west bank. where does it stand, what the americans call this two-phase proposal, stop the fighting right away, hamas stopping shelling rockets and missiles into israel. israel stops its strikes in gaza. and then deal with the second phase, all of the other issues. where does that stand, doctor, right now? >> well, the palestinian side -- and by the way, it's not just hamas, it's all the palestinian groups including the palestinian authority -- are calling for an immediate humanitarian cease-fire which could last five or six days during which time all the issues could be discussed on the table. the israeli official stand which was declared by the israeli government is that israel is refusing any

think there will probably be some internal wrangling over this because, look, the white house has said johnd and a lot of people on capitol hill have said they want to get this report out and put this entire matter behind them, and i think that not just the findings of this internal cia investigation, but the report itself is going to make it awfully difficult for the government, for the administration, for the senate, for the cia to put this matter behind them. >> indeed. i mean, if we look at the leaked state department talking points on this report they are explosive. i'll just read a couple of highlights. at one point one of the questions is doesn't the report that the senate intelligence report make clear that at least some who authorized or participated in the rendition and interrogation program committed crimes? they asked again, whether the justice department will revisit the decision not to prosecute anyone. there could be criminal charges here, jonathan. >> we'll have to wait and see and the state department will have to answer overseas to other governments demanding to know what'

as former justice john paul stevens has said, money is property. it is not speech. money amplifies speech, and for the very wealthy in our society, money enables them to be heard at the loudest decibels at the expense of the rest of us. the campaign spending issues were regulations on the manner of speech, not on speech itself. by equating money with speech, the buckley court sanctioned a system that allows the very wealthy, and now corporations, to distort our political process and the very meaning of the first amendment. point number 2 -- no one has a first amendment right to drown out other people' speech. the supreme court stated this clearly. in the 1949 in kovacs v. cooper. a union in the city of trenton was blaring its message with a sound truck going down every street. in response, the city passed an ordinance saying the sound trucks can only go down every 3rd street. the supreme court upheld the ordinance as a reasonable regulation on the manner of speech. it found that public streets served other public purposes that needed to be protected and as justice j
