don't we have three college tuition for boys and girls at the time in the history department at johns hopkins. it was segregated by race and gender in our lifetime but she was fighting that beginning in the 1930s. i have an incredible speech from 1934 in which the educators of america passed a resolution. segregation has to go. it hurts children of comfort and children that are persuaded they are somehow better when in fact they are not. the resolution of 1934 is pretty much the language of brown v. board of education whereupon eleanor roosevelt goes across the stage to give a speech that she was not expected to give supporting this great event. she says this is what we must do. we must recognize that we all go ahead together or we all go down together. >> host: you quoted her in letters to friends and family almost undermining or improving the skills to get a she does on the evidence of the books and i think what is important is while claiming she is not an expert politician, she is working both for that in a larger way around him i'm fascinated by the variations in the things she would show
