i want to bring in now john huber, he is the father of anthony huber. anthony huber was one of the victims killed that night along with joseph rosenbaum and gage grosskreutz was shot and injured. you saw his testimony. john, so glad you could be with us. i know this has opinan extremel difficult time for you and your family. what is your thought this morning, a day after this acquittal of kyle rittenhouse? >> well, we're still in shock that this is the outcome. we still can't believe it. >> what were your expectations? >> he should have got about 40 years in prison. that was our expectation. >> you didn't see the defense's point of view of self-defense. what point did you perhaps lose hope that there would be a guilty verdict? was there something in the testimonies or the process of the trial that changed that allowed you to see that you were not going to get the verdict you were looking for? >> you could tell by the biased judge that it was going to go that way. >> was there a moment in particular that stands out for you? >> i knew something was wrong

joining us is john huber, the father of anthony huber who was shot and killed by rittenhouse. mr.nk you so much for taking the time to speak with us. we do recognize this is an incredibly difficult and emotional time for you. how are you and your family doing this morning? >> good morning. we're doing okay. >> you were not in the courtroom during the trial because the videos and testimony were so overwhelming, you said you just couldn't be there. you couldn't see all that. but what was your personal reaction when the verdict was read? >> we were shocked. we relived his death all over again, that moment. >> now, you said that in a statement that there's been no justice or accountability for the death of your son. what message do you think this verdict sends? >> that it's okay for 17-year-olds to walk around with ar-15s. >> i just want to make something clear. i understand this is a very emotional time for you. you know, the jury did side with rittenhouse and his claim of self-defense, that he felt his life was threatened or he was not provoking the incident. that's how the verdict

that was john huber. it was his son anthony huber, one of two killed by kyle rittenhouse. let's bring in now page paid, a constitutional law and criminal defense attorney. good to see you. so you know, the core of this case was based on whether rittenhouse was defending himself, the jurors said, yes, it was self-defense. do you agree with john huber there that, you know, the road was paved once they dropped the charge of being a minor and unlawfully carrying that weapon. >> well, i certainly think dropping that charge helped kyle rittenhouse because at that point, the jury could say, well, you know, the judge has basically dismissed the charge that he was carrying a gun unlawfully. he had a right to be at the protest, he apparently had a right to have an assault rifle at the protest. all with e e need to focus on n was he reasonable in using deadly force when these other people appeared to either confront him or come towards him, and obviously the jury decided that under wisconsin law, which is a little unique here, that he was justified and it was self-defense. >> how do

anthony huber's parents, karen bloom and john huber, said they were heartbroken and angry over the verdicty said did not deliver justice for any of rittenhouse's victims. this is anthony huber's father john huber responding to the verdict on cnn. >> we are still in shock here, you know? that guy gets to run free and he is now a hero. this is my son right here. this is anthony. we lost our son and there's no justice right now for our family and there is no closure. there wasn't going to be justice in the kenosha court with that judge. amy: after rittenhouse's acquittal, anthony huber's girlfriend hannah gittings, who was with him the night of the protest, told reporters that she wasn't surprised by the verdict, saying, "we know that this system is a failure." this is hannah speaking friday outside the kenosha courthouse. >> i miss anthony every single day. every day i wish that i could come home to him and unload some of this weight that is on my shoulders, but i can't because he is dead. and now the system is telling me that nobody needs to answer for that. and i have a problem with that.

go and one of the frenks this case is so confusing, john, there's a couple of charges, a first-degree intensional homicide charge against anthony huber and we've now included lesser charges, lesser included charges within that highest level which is sometimes complicated for jurors to understand, and part of the fight in the jury instructions today was with respect to how the judge was going to instruct the jury to think about those lesser included charges, whether if they felt unanimously that rittenhouse wasn't guilty of the top charge of intentional homicide, whether or not they then would move on to the lesser included. i mean, that's kind of a complicated legal issue, and they didn't really get to the right answer, i didn't think and the prosecutor now has to destill this down to the proper defense. they are saying look, this is a young man n.in illegal possession of a firearm and crossed state lines to come into a melee really so he took it upon himself to enter into a dangerous situation. so, therefore, he captain be -- >> i've got to jump in at that point. no apology necessary. confusing morning from the judge. the prosecutor
