the young man's name is john jackson. he's 16 years old. there is a picture of him right there. the memorial has sprung up a few feet away from where he was shot. according to family members and witnesses he was shot in this pickup truck right here. you can see the evidence of that shooting right here. this was the beginning of a very deadly sequence of events. according to jackson's family he had just gotten home from playing basketball. it was his father's birthday just before midnight. gets a call from a female friend. he comes outside and just a few minutes later you hear gunfire. >> he came and jordan said he was hit. i thought he was playing at first. my other grandson lifted his shirt up and saw the bullet wound and then we sat him on the sew foe and called 911. >> reporter: john was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later. then around 3:pin the -- then around 3:00 in the morning a 27- year-old woman was dropped off in a car. she also died from her gunshot wounds. and then around 3:30 the other man that was reported shot at a party this was on 87th near d.

jackson, mississippi, parking lot. darrel deadman, an 18-year-old, has been charged with the murder. one other person involved is 18-year-old johnh a lesser crime, he's out on bail. there have been no pleas for either one of these fellows, and these guys' attorneys won't answer our calls. but five other teens who took part in this, keira, have not been charged. that has sparked protests in the community. this weekend, this was a march and vigil held calling for among other things more charges to be filed. but here is the problem, why feds may be involved. mississippi doesn't have a stand had-alone hate crime on its book. where hate is a motivator, a person faces additional penalties. but you can't just charge someone with a hate crime. the feds can. we understand fbi agents are on the ground in jackson, mississippi, conducting an investigation for the u.s. justice department to see if this will lead to more charges, perhaps against the other teens involved. >> and possibly even more crimes? >> possibly even more crimes. our sources are confirming that this particular group of teens, this group of teens from a neighboring white c

john king. ben bernanke says the fed will do all it can to bring high rates of growth in employment back. he gave few specifics in his speech today in jackson. bernanke put a lot of responsibility on the gridlocked congress. he said a repeat of the debt ceiling debate will hurt the economy. bernanke's comments were enough to fuel a market turnaround. the dow rose 135 points today after being down more than 200 earlier in the session. the s&p 500 and the nasdaq composite were also up strongly. >> a deadly car bomb at a u.n. building in nigeria killed at least 18 people. the nigerian president called it a barbaric, senseless and cowardly
