john? >> hey, kelly. thanks for having me.s an interesting industry, and there's never room for victory laps here, because it is volatile. look, lennar's quarter was choppy, for sure. but importantly, they beat on revenue, on operating margin, on eps. now, where they missed was on gross margin, and they signaled they have a little lower gross margin. keep in mind a couple things. one, they are production builders. so they are going to keep volume moving. two, they don't utilize brokers or third party realtors as much as the other builders that embrace that community. but i think what we saw in the quarter was a little bit of community challenge, specific to lennar and what they did is they turned around into dry volume. they pushed a little more on the incentive front and used some of the savings to kind of fund that. so operating margin is still a beat, and that's a big key here. >> so there's nothing that says the builders have been lead thing rally for a couple of years now, it's time for some profit taking, time for some k

the next 60 days, seeing donald trump's former secretaries of defense, his former chief of staff john kellyinconceivable that you could have a long list of living former secretary of defense saying let' set aside our political differences, this is not about political or -- this man should never be allowed back in the center of power. and i think that the cheneys have perhaps opened the door a crack to this. but you know, in terms of how extraordinary this moment is, you go back and try to imagine, nicolle, four, five, six, seven years ago, imagine dick cheney making this -- make no mistake about it. when the cheney's cross this red line, there is no going back. they know that the republican party that they used to be part of it is gone and never going to be restored. but hopefully this sends a signal to conservative anti-trump voters out there who might not be ideology attune to the democratic party to say this is a sign this is not an emergency, that we're not dealing with the normal choices of american politics and this gives harris a great deal of cred when it comes to national security

the distinction between the former general chief of staff and general milley, secretary mattis, john kellyer. the last three were political appointees. they were retired generals. yes. but they then volunteered to become a political appointee. and that's different. they can't leave that post and then go back and say, well i'm a retired general, and i'm now apolitical again. no. you saw things and you owe it to the american people to tell us what you saw and do you think that this man is fit to be back in the white house? you saw him and you were in a political position when you did that. i think that's a really important distinction. >> you're saying that it is -- they've already made that leap. >> absolutely. they -- you know, they're different than general milley. general milley served his entire career in the military when he got out, you know, if he doesn't want to wade into politics, hey, great. fine. okay. but the other three decided to go into political roles. chief of staff, secretary of defense, secretary of homeland security, national security adviser. those are political roles.

obviously, a guy like john kelly, no place in a second trump term.find enablers, because these folks have had a running start over the past four years to sort of look at what happened in the first term, and what they can do if they came back. i think what you see in the final weeks of trump's presidency, is someone who sort of finally figured out, sort of completely unshackled. look, he did a lot of things up until that point that were extraordinary and highly unusual , but the behavior in those final weeks were sort of a realization of, oh, there is more i could have done. there is more i could have gotten away with. >> michael, this behavior is parallel in other countries, and appelbaum, who recently came out with another book, "of todd chrisley inc. ," told this to the guardian, it is often the case, the second time it is worse. chavez in venezuela made one attempt and he went to jail. the second time, when he was released, he knew to do a defoliant to avenge. the second, and hungry, he was prime minister one term and loss, and when he came back,
