suspended canterbury police chief john laroche faces new charges after he was indicted by a grand jury. he's accused of assaulting a teen-age girl more than 15 years ago. laroche is now charged with six count of aggravated felonious sexual assault, one count of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault and three misdemeanors. part of the legal process and not a big surprise on our part. reporter: a canterbury police sergeant is currently rung the department's day-to-day operations. >> nothing has changed as far as status of the police chief, he's still on unpaid administrative leave. reporter: court documents say the assaults happened between january 1999 and august of 2000 when the girl was 16 to 17 years old. laroche was a boscawen police officer at the time and supervised the department's explorer program where teenagers learn what it takes to be a police officer. according to the indictment, laroche assaulted the alleged victim in a police cruiser at the boscawen police department and at the town's boat ramp. court documents say the 44-year-old used his position of authority to
