joining me now is former federal prosecutor john lauro. currently a white collar criminal defense attorney. senator warner names a few people who were previously interviewed, michael cohen, jared kushner. do you think they would agree to be interviewed again? >> that's a question they're going to have to deal with. because there's a parallel criminal investigation going on right now that mr. mueller is conducting. so whatever they say before congress will go directly to mr. mueller's investigation, as well. they're not getting immunity to testify before congress, so the question that they have to confront is do they voluntarily disclose and discuss things in a congressional setting. >> warner also talked about bringing donald trump jr. before the committee and implied that he'd want it to be in a public setting. what do you think would factor in donald trump jr.'s response to a request for that? >> typically a criminal defense lawyer will advise a client not to testify and not to make any public statements. but he's in an awkward position

joining me now is john lauro, formerly a federal prosecutor in the eastern district of new york and currently collar criminal defense attorney. john, so much to talk about here. keith schiller. he is expected to be asked about president trump's visit to moscow in 2013. a trip at the center of certain allegations in that salacious dossier. how do you expect him to approach that interview? >> well, what's interesting is that his appearance is not related to the mueller investigation. this is actually a congressional review. so the question is what an the the congressional folks are going to come at. i suspect he's a friendly witness to president trump. and probably doesn't really have much information to give the mueller investigation. >> and when it comes to the russia investigation so far, we're hearing the president's legal team sound this tone of cooperation. but how far will that approach get them? is there a line where you'd expect that that tone to be changing if it's crossed? >> i think they're delusional. i think what they're saying to the public in terms of the president's position is

. >> we have john lauro here with us. >> it's obvious he's facing some very serious charges, possibly dealing with his relationships with tur ri. there have been other speculations that he may have been involved in a kidnapping plot. we just don't know. but he's made a decision with his counsel to have some communication with the prosecutor and cutting a deal. the only way he gets a reduced sentence is by cooperating. >> when you lay that out, when general flynn is in legal jeopardy and potentially his son is in legal jeopardy, might someone say almost anything to stay out of jail? >> that's true. you don't get any points for exonerating someone. you only get points if you implicate someone and get them prosecuted. he has incentive to spill the beans to implicate somebody else. >> how does it work if he cuts a deal with the special counsel, robert mueller, walk us through what happens from a legal standpoint but then how does mueller sort out whether or not it's true or bunk? >> first of all, what we know now is none of this has to do with the campaign. that's very important. it has t

john lauro is currently a white collar criminal defense attorney.hank you for joining us this morning. >> good morning. >> what is the likely lood manafort is released from home confinement tomorrow. >> it's pretty good. usually in these cases the defendants are granted some kind of bail. conditions of release that allow them to prepare in freedom for their upcoming trial. so i think the likelihood is that he's going to be released from home confinement on some conditions. the problem the judge has is that manafort has widespread connections around the world. he has financial dealings around the world. and possibly could leave the united states with a lot of money. so that's the concern the judge has. >> let's talk about the conditions though because how do you expect his lawyers to address the concerns about the flight risk? >> typically what happens is they ask relatives to put up property which is very significant. they surrender your passport. the likelihood of somebody these days fleeing the united states under these circumstances is pretty sli
