joining us now in a first on cnbc interview is honda executive john mendel. > good to see you. >> so can this car jump-start sales for the civic? >> well we think it's dynamic new approach. it's our tenth generation of civic which we're really excited to bring here today. certainly going add a lot to the civic line-up, but also to the honda line-up in america and the rest of the world. >> why did you feel that you needed this civic to become a sportier car? one of the reasons for its popularity was how simple how reliable, and affordable it had been, so why did you go in this direction? >> well, civic has always been about being sporty and fun and dynamic. it has probably one of the broadest appeals in terms of demographics in the industry of any car. there's certainly a demand by younger buyers who are typically very strong civic supporters for a little bit more sporty more dynamic vehicle. that's what we're delivering with this tenth generation vehicle. it's wider. >> how much will it cost? this new model. >> we haven't announced pricing. it will launch this
