well, wolf three sources tell me and my colleague john miller, that in manhattan grand jury has indicted former president donald trump in connection with the hush money payments scheme. this indictment is under seal, according to sources, and the exact charges are not yet known at this time, but this investigation has been going on for a long time. the decision to move and seek and get an indictment of former president is the first time that has been done in u. s history. this could have a significant impact on the presidential campaign. but as i said, we do not know the exact charges yet. we expect those charges to be made public in the coming days and at some point in the near future, former

let me go to john miller. john you've been doing an excellent reporting on all of this. i know you learned that trump is facing 30 plus counts related to business fraud. what more can you tell us about that? well i think what you're seeing is the overarching charge is going to be falsification of business records where the 30 plus counts come from is um, you know, the payments were made in multiple checks, so each check will be a count of false falsified business records because the purpose is stated as one thing when it's supposed to be another each check came with an invoice , which you know, sought payment for that each one of those will be a different count. um but i wouldn't read too much into the number of counts in that it doesn't affect either the sentencing, um or the seriousness of the overall charge, which is going to be this business records thing and you know, there is the possibility of outside of the counts of the individual acts. you know, an overarching charged that this was done for the purposes of another crime, which could involve conspiracy, and that

>> let's bring in cnn chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst john miller. are intel agencies doing now to ensure this threat is over and was just an isolated incident? >> well, there's a big scramble, obviously. first you got to dig into mark muffly and say who is this individual, who was he in contact with, what is his background, is he associated or affiliated with any particular groups that are advocating violence. that's number one. number two, you have to look at this and determine was this a quantity of explosives which is illegal on an airplane that was packed in a suitcase that was checked, or was this a device that contained explosives? the difference is if it's a device, it could have an initiator. if it has an initiator, that means it could have a detonator in terms of a timer or a clock or a signal that could come from a cell phone which would suggest it might have been programmed to go off while the plane's in flight. now that's a lot of unanswered questions that aren't addressed in the document that we have seen from the federal government yet

law enforcement officials tell our colleague john miller that there are behind-the-scenes preparations ongoing. if you consider a scenario where you have the former president being indicted and criminally charged or even having to present himself in a state court here in lower manhattan, that certainly raises concerns about some of the potential security about the facilities involved here. that is why law enforcement officials privy to these decisions are telling our colleague they're certainly preparing for the potential where you see maybe some supporters of the former president showing up, responding to his most recent call for protest. with that, will certainly come concerns about any potential counter protest as well. there's that element. second, there's also orchestrating what's supposed to be a routine process that will be all but routine when it involves donald trump. that would include secret service agents working with the manhattan district attorney making sure the former president can arrive here in lower manhattan, can be in and out and be processed for any potential char

let's discuss with john miller and gustavo gvaldez. a u.s. law enforcement was not on the ground in mexico during the search for the kidnapping victims. do you think it's likely americans are on the ground now awe cysting with the investigation? >> i think they were before the victims were recovered. they were working in the streets of matamoros. this is two things, one it's an area of sensitivity for the mexican government because particularly this president does not like the idea of, you know, four americans getting in trouble and the fbi taking over and the appearance of americans operating on the ground in mexico. so it is a sensitivisensitivity. but i've been told by people briefed on the operations that fbi agents, dea agents, agents from homeland security who have worked in the area before, knowing the dangers were were out there looking for leads and the cartels were right there watching them. >> when you say the president doesn't like the sensitivity you're talking about the mexican president, who said today political adversaries are
