cnn chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst john miller joins us now. so, john, with those names now in the hands of the doj, what happens next? >> well, that is the question. remember, pam, this is where the fbi was asked to provide this information instead of providing names because they were concerned about what would occur with these identities, they provided the unique employee identification numbers so that if there was some matter that made them want to need a specific name, that number could be run. but now, now that they've turned over the names, the question is what does happen next? in other words, the executive order for ending weaponization of the government says that this information is supposed to be gathered, processed and sent to the deputy chief of staff at the white house, not the attorney general, not the inspector general of the justice department. so from a political standpoint, what are their operators going to do with it? are they going to run the names of 5000 fbi employees against voter registration records to figure out who's a

let's talk more about the super bowl security measures with cnn's john miller. ohn, is ryan laid out there? the super bowl is already a highly monitored event. what's the additional complexity of securing a location like this, especially when both president trump and former first lady biden are planning on attending? >> well, i mean, the. >> most serious. >> target, of course, is the stadium itself. but that's also the safest place to be in new orleans that day, because what you have there is a controlled environment you can control access through layers and layers of security. you can be scanned, frisked, sniffed, everything going in there. so that's going to be a sterile environment. the real threat there, the complexity, as you put it, is all of the attendant events where a terrorist could have the effect of, quote unquote, attacking the super bowl just by attacking some event that might have hundreds or even thousands of people that's associated with it. we saw that to some extent on bourbon street, and you see ann kirkpatrick, the police chief, brought in ex

let's bring in cnn's experts, john miller and josh campbell. as an agent at the fbi for more than a decade. john was an assistant director at the fbi. josh, to you first, what's going to happen to the thousands of agents on that list? have you heard from any of them today? >> i've heard from a lot of them. and that's still the big unanswered question is to what end? why is this information being requested from the fbi by trump appointees at the u.s. justice department? most employees that i've spoken with think that this is only leading in one direction, and that is retribution. president donald trump has obviously called for retribution against his perceived political enemies. the one difference here is that these aren't political appointees. we're talking about thousands of career fbi agents, analysts, professional staff. what i'm told today is what was turned over with these this batch of information. you had employees by their unique identification number. they had their job titles. they had their role in the january 6th investigations. and
