john, we're getting more earnings early next week, we'll get goldman sachs, morgan stanley, united airlines in the week ahead and then it's pretty much off to the races for the s&p 500 reporting their fourth quarter. what kind of fourth quarter are you expecting? >> well, we've gotten quite a start today haven't we, maria, with all the big news. we're looking for about 3 or 4% decline in fourth quarter earnings is the initial forecast but what i find comforting is that the market or companies typically beat by 3 or 4% so we could see a flat earnings but today's a really important day because beats are nice but i think it's more important to look at the overall trend and if you're seeing provisions escalate and you want to get a better handle on -- it's a little early, i haven't looked at all the data yet, i want to get a better handle on loan growth. that really gives an indication. jamie dimon was saying the economy was going to be less bad if you will than the original prognostication, i think the provisions really are the tell for what the banks think about the economy going forward. so
