murphy. we appreciate your thoughtful work -- thank you. secretary boomer: this is no the opportunity for public to make comment on items that are not on today's calendar. we have john and dave. chair nolan: this is how you spend your retirement days? >> we are citizens now. great to see everyone on on mta board. it is good to be able to visit with you. i want to thank you for your diligence service. i certainly came to welcome director leona bridges. i think she will bring another set of skills to the work before us. i do want to take a moment and say that i would welcome, if the directors could do this, to bring forward before the mta board, the issue of citizens' safety. we have a new safety director, who has been with this agency, i believe, six or seven months. to my knowledge, there has not been a safety presentation, and i do want to underscore that in 2009, there were a number of issues that came before the board where we had hearings around safety, and jim doherty, who was the safety director at the time, responded ably about the accidents that took place in my district, in district 8, and i think it would be very worthwhile to look at some of the to-do's t
