course, those leaks sparked a diplomatic row, and about that i spoke earlier with ambassador john negroponte, who served as the first director of u.s. national intelligence. there is an investigation under way or investigation about to start. how easy will it be to find the source of these leaks? mr. negroponte: well, looking for a leak, as we know, can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. but i think through leadership from the top, we can get the message across to the workers and the members of the intelligence and law enforcement communities that they had just got to keep their mouths shut, and there are ways of enforcing that discipline. jane: how do you punish the person who leaked these photographs, the name of the suspect bomber? has a crime actually been committed? mr. negroponte: you would have to ask a lawyer, but it is not my impression that this is necessarily a criminal act. it is more an act of indiscipline. it is also an act of disrespect, it would seem to me, for the british authorities who have lead on this matter. normally when you are releasing information publicly
