john boehner, i have a great relationship with, because they don't take themselves too seriously. as democrats and republicans, that's a good example. >> i remember tip o'neilld bob michael would be having a battle on the floor of the house and play cards that night. i'm glad to hear that some of that is still going on, because i think that's pretty much the way this thing is supposed to work. >> not nearly as much as it should, but some still does, yes. >> well, i'll tell you. mark, when you think back over the past several years, which of the political comedians were the most influential in terms of the way americans approach their government and how they feel about the way the country is being run? >> well, for one thing, if this election turns out in a certain way, it will be -- how do i put this -- if it turns out the way the three of us don't want it to turn out, without mentioning names, that will render political humor totally ineffectual. these guys haven't put a dent in our current president, they really haven't. it used to be whoever made it into the nightly monologue, in other words his transgressions became known, immediately known, johnny carso
