i've known of john paul letterx works since i was a graduate student. i think the first thing i read of john paul's was a book called preparing for peace, which i believe he wrote in 1995 1995 or around that time. it was in some ways a provocative challenge to our field. it sort of suggested that the field of particularly international peacebuilding and public resolution and mediation training was had a kind of colonialist taint to it and that we really needed to reflect critically on what we were doing how we were doing it and if there were better ways to work and it was a provocative book and it really got my attention so i went deep on letter rack and read much of letter act and and then had the privilege and pleasure of meeting him on a couple of times a couple of occasions at different meetings. um, but have always considered john paul a thought leader in our field who is grounded in i mean, you know is is an academic by training, but it's is a grounded peace builder john paul has spent time working in conflict of transformation in colombia the cou
