thank you very much, john paul scott. next item on the agenda is public comment. items not on today's agenda, but within the purview of the council. >> thank you. hello commissioners and staff, it's great to see everybody. jessica layman and the director mentioned the hearing on monday about elevators and to put in a plug to encourage people to attend. we're very excited and as you know i have been here a couple of times talking about elevators and we're grateful to have your resolution, including the maintenance of accessible features. we have had the senior and disability elevator work group meeting for several months trying to figure out where to go with this, and so in addition to the hearing today at the budget hearing we talked about requesting $1 million, which is supervisor jane kim's proposal, to ask for -- well, not ask for, but to get $1 million in the budget and add backs next thursday. for essentially a pilot program for some kind of revolving fund or some financing for sro owners to be able to repair, upgrade, modernize their elevators. so a million

and i really credit john paul scott for having developed those relationships and shown he can identify a project, develop it, tweak it to fit within the budget and deliver something that is not only accessible, but in many cases quite beautiful as well. they are enhancements in so many different ways. so it's really over those -- we have been in business now at mod for 16 years. we don't really have to be making the argument as much anymore, that this is required. it's the law. this is our obligation and we'll be sued if we don't. so we do get a lot of cooperation and support from the board of supervisors and the mayor's office on these projects. >> if it's okay with the council, i have one more question, just because this is such an interesting field for me. early on in your presentation you mentioned sometimes when -- with regards to the elevator, when a contractor falls through, you have to pull some of the financial resources and allocate to the one where the contractor fell out. in regards to that and moving forward on these different projects, what is your view of how that proces

john paul scott will do the presentation. >> hello councilmembers. this is our annual update on the ada transition plan, a request for capital funds from the board of supervisors and the mayor. from the general budget. we have not -- this has not been finalized yet. we're close. but we're fairly confident that these are the projects that will be funded this year and i will also highlight some of the current projects that are moving into construction towards the end of the presentation. so we are now on a two-year budget cycle. so we're looking at fiscal year fy15 funding. and fiscal year fy16 funding. if we could bring up the powerpoint, please? and i'm sorry for the overlap. this will sunset the funding request for the ada transition plan. these are our last two years' of funding. so to-date we have -- the plan was put together in 2004 and approved by the board of supervisors and the mayor in 2007, to give you a little recap here. it evolved into plus or minus 100 projects, it depends on how we split projects up at places like san francisco general

the third section was about access and john paul scott our deputy director for physical access and carla johnson our director trained our ada coordinators on some basic building blocks and things to keep in mind, a very general overview -- we don't expect our ada coordinators to be architects, but finally the last session was all about the procedures and how do we help through the grievance process, problem solve situations and prevent bigger issues and also develop new policies that are more welcoming and accessible and useful to people with disability and access to services. it's an exciting project and you will hear more about it as we do more work in the future. but at this point, i also wanted to share with you a little bit about our new intern anna, who you heard a little bit about in carla's introduction. anna comes to us through youth works, part of our office's commitment to mayor lee's commitment to employ youth. as one of our missions of course is you heard the statistics about the employee of people with disabilities was to actually provide some work experience for youth with
