but as kpix 5 john ramos reports her family is still searching for answers. >> reporter: when alexis gabe went missing in january, police understood fairly quickly what happened to her and by whom. but the question of where she was wasn't answered until last week. when alexis gabe disappeared, it triggered a huge volunteer search in oakley and nearby antioch. police suspected her former boyfriend marshal curtis jones had had killed her in their home in antioch, and they began around-the-clock surveillance of his movements. just when they got a warrant to arrest him. >> marshal jones was killed in june of this year in a lethal contribution with a seattle area task force as they attempted to arrest him without warrant for the murder of alexis. >> reporter: the question remained where was alexis? it turns out even though jones was dead, he still led them to the location. he apparently picked out a random spot in rural amador county, but police think he may have doubted if there was gps service there, so he wrote out on this note, turn-by-turn directions. when they found the note, invest
