san francisco's civic accept ter station. and that's -- civic center station. and that's where johnlston is with more. >> still an active scene here. a dozen or so police cars from bart and san francisco along market and seventh street. the civic center station is closed and has been for awhile. this happened shortly before 10:00 when there were reports that a man on the bart platform at the civic center station had a knife in his hand. an officer believed to be a bart police officer opened fire shooting the man. the man was taken to the hospital. we do not have the full report on his condition at this point. a short time ago we spoke to a tourist from mexico who was on the platform. he told us the train was parked in the station. he heard four shots and ran toward the activity and saw a man on the platform on the ground and a dance from his hand a knife which this witness described as being 10 to 12 inches from handle to tip of the blade. the man was taken to the hospital. we do not have any confirmation on his condition at this time. the bart station is closed and the trains are r

san jose. a gas leak has prompted an evacuation of several homes on saint john street. that is near the san jose state university campus. police say a car crashed into a house at 447 saint john, causing a leak at the gas meter. fire crews are monitoring while pg&e works on the damaged line. the gas is not expected to be turned back on until about 12:30. there are two injuries but how they happened is still not known. >>> in san francisco, one man is dead after the shuttle bus that he was riding in collided with a big rig. anser hassan reports. >> reporter: traffic is back to normal. but in the morning it wasn't the case at octavia and oak streak. it was closed after a big rig and shuttle bus carrying 15 passengers collided leaving one man dead. this intersection is prone to accidents according to residents but nothing like what they saw this morning. >> this goes on all the time. to be a pedestrian in this area driving is dangerous. >> reporter: or even fatal as was the case this morning. a shuttle bus was carrying employees and possibly patients to san francisco general

john street about 9:15, causing the leak. no on was hurt. ters evacuated abo >>> there was a gas leak in a sanjose neighborhood this morning. a car hit a gas meter on st. john's street at 9:15 causing a leak. no one was injured. firefighters evacuated about two dozen nearby homes of as a precaution. that evacuation has since been lifted. >>> and all lanes of highway 87 in san jose are back open tonight after a big sinkhole opened up. caltrans shut down the number 3 lane of the southbound west alma avenue off-ramp at around 3 a.m. the hole measured about 30 feet by 30 feet. but it has since been repaired. >>> a police chase with speeds topping 60 miles an hour ends with a driver smashing into a retaining wall in the east bay. these are live pictures from the chopper 5 over tara hills road outside pinole where the crash happened. the imprint of the car was left on the retaining wall. after the crash, the driver of the car was trapped and nonresponsive to paramedics. he was flown to john muir trauma center in walnut creek. police don't know why the driver took off initiating the chase. >>> a sout

john mackey, a former baltimore colts player has passed away. he played for the baltimore colts from 1963, until 1967, and also played for the san diego chargers. a spokesman for the baltimore ravens said john mackey's wife informed them of the death. he had been battling dementia. the search is on for the person who set fire to property on sparrows point in the 2600 block of sparrows point road. if you have any information, you should call baltimore county police. natural resources police say they have found the body of the a boater who went missing in the magothy river. james kane was thrown from the vote on july 4. officials say they were thrown as the vote made a sharp turn. an armed man is still at large. state police say he attacked a speed cameras vehicle on the side of the baltimore-washington parkway, and then fled into the woods. jennifer franciotti has those details. >> a bizarre incident near the bwi exit at 195 had the interstate shut down for hours. a man walked out of the woods, and on to the parkway, holding a hammer in one hand, and a shotgun in another. in forced -- he approached this speed informed the judge speed- enforcement
