john sasaki is live in the city south this afternoon where the police just wrapped up a press conference a few minutes ago. john? >> reporter: mike, police wrapped up the press conference about 20 minutes ago and they left a lot of unanswered questions. but any did release new information including confirming the boy's name is derrick gains. they also did say he pulled a gun on the officer, although they did not say whether he pointed it at the officer. it hatched before 9:00 last night at an arco station near mcdonald's where he had been hanging out with friends before the shooting. he left with the friend on foot. a police officer approached them because they say he was acting suspiciously and that's when he ran. his aunt told ktvu that he's the kind of boy that would run if he saw the police. the officer gave chase and shortly after, the boy, achording to police -- according to the police, pulled the gun and that's when the police opened fire, killing the boy. police would not be specific about why the officer made the initial stop. >> the officer felt that the two suspects were actin
