john schriffen is at the scene with more on this. >> reporter: we're here in the corner of connecticut avenue and l streets. i want to take a look at the scene. you can see, connecticut avenue s been blocked off here. it caused quite a back-up here for traffic and motorists coming into the area. connecticut block off between l and k streets. that's because metro says about 3:15 this afternoon, because of construction work going on on street level apparently due to itial investigation, a jackhammer caused part of the ceiling in the metro to collapse on to the platform below. at this point, no one on the platform was injured. but i did get a chance to go downstairs and take a look. and there is concrete lying on the platform. it smashed on to a bench. now luckily, no one was sitting on tt bench below. there are no reported injuries at this hour. but for metro riders looking to come into this area and use the metro station, at this point, trains are still running but they are running slower than usual. if you are coming into the area, know that your commute will be delayed because of the
