yeah, you helped john snow, i understand, cover a french presidential election. informed. it was one of those moments, it was a sliding door moment. i was kind of working for nothing, making the tea, etc, and thenjohn snow's producer fell ill and he needed somebody to go to the south of france — we were in paris at the time — to go and cover jacques chirac�*s rally. it was the eve of the election, and he was the prime minister and he was standing to be president against francois mitterrand, and he'd just released the french hostages from beirut that day. he'd used his power as prime minister to potentially persuade the french electorate to vote for him. these french hostages were national celebrities and they'd been incarcerated in beirut for a very long time. national news bulletins every night started with their faces and the number of days that they have been incarcerated. and i went down to the south of france to meet up with the crew. i was 21 at the time, 22, and managed to get an exclusive interview with jacques chirac in english. john snow made it his lea

. >> last we have snow spare the air alert for today. thankfully. john, good morning. can be super thankful for that. and the cherry on top of it. is this good air quality also comes along with some really good weather. so i know are working on a monday. hopefully get a chance to enjoy the little bit, though. you've got to take advantage of these good days. you're north calhoun. the weather center forecast for the south bay does show a little bit of cloud cover. and there in the distance. what you are looking at this morning whether it's gray are a little bit of blue with some the cloud cover in the distance is really just that marine layer that we're taking in as you can see, skies are pretty bright and san jose, we've seen this marine layer filtering in over the weekend. there are going to be pockets of moderate air quality into the afternoon. so it's not picture perfect, but it is pretty close to it. as you can see, we're starting this morning with good air quality across the board. now the bay area air quality management district has taken us out a spare the air al

normally we checked the tahoe cams for snow or we're showing ski resort camps and we see the fires in la in southlake john. john. that's got a really good vantage point to some of the flames that we're seeing up there this morning. this one just sends chills down your spine. this one at sierra at tahoe right here. yet normally you look at this for snow resort this is wild. let's actually bring this one up full right here, guys. we can talk about it for a second. you can see just the glow of the fire right there. >> next to the blaze itself. and the fire obviously did expand a lot to the north east yesterday due to some south westerly winds. a lot of the camps right around south lake tahoe are showing views like this where you can actually see the glow of the blaze. go look at, you not kerkel, but we have like a heavenly cam, a dry front to show ski runs and you see this is bizarre. and by the way, because of these fires. feds, the forest service has closed all park lands in california. all national forests in california closed because of this. >> because of these fires and the winds are blowing continuing
