we have john stanton from buzzfeed, l.z.mentator and mark preston, cnn political director, to talk 2016. start with you, mark. is it a hillary/biden race? what are the numbers telling you right now? >> i think at this point, it's hillary clinton, hillary clinton, hillary clinton. if she decides to run, she's so far ahead right now. she's at 51% lead over anybody else. her closest person is joe biden. remove hillary clinton from the equation, you get joe biden as the leader. however, everything will get scrambled up at that point and a couple names we have to look at is elizabeth warren. liberals want to see her run. andrew cuomo is chomping at the bit, governor of new york, dying to run. martin o'malley can't hide the fact that he is already laying the groundwork right now to run in 2016 if hillary clinton doesn't. >> i want to ask john and you, l.z., as well. do you agree, because it's early. we have three years to go. if we were here in 2005 thinking about 2008, or in 2009 thinking about 2012, we might have thought differe

julianna goldman, "washington post" columnist jonathan capehart and joining us from washington, d.c., john stanton. john, let me go to you first since you're in d.c. right now the senate is holding a vote or about to hold a vote on the toomey amendment which will broaden carveouts to corporations who might not feel okay with lgtb employees and just not want to abide by this nonstrip nation act. what do you see for the future of this bill? does it stand any hope in the house. >> the hope amongert spokers of the bill is that by including these kind of exemptions they can bring enough republicans in the senate they can have a big vogt vote and bring parish to the speaker. unequivocal speaker has said will not support the bill, encourage lawsuits, move it further to the right to placate him. it will be difficult for supporters of the bill to get republicans to go for it at this point. >> steve, what john said the speaker thinks it's going to increase frivolous legislation. they have done studies where there are discrimination in place and only 7% of all lawsuits have to do with sexual orientation disc

his column of iran is in the latest issue on stands, and also joining us, john stanton. iran deal. comparing kerry to clinton does -- do kerry's recent successes at all diminish what clinton succeeded at? >> i think people can judge that on their own. there's no question that kerry is more of an acrobat. he's out of a limic, taking chances. this is the end of the line for him. as jill said, hillary played a little more cautiously knowing she might run for president again, and this is probably the last thing kerry does in public life. also, the differences between them are on the margins because secretary of state of this administration has been an envoy job. they're not setting policy, foreign policy. the white house is extremely controlling of foreign policy. most of the issues that were discussed in that segment, the big decisions were made, president obama himself very active in foreign policy. a core group of aides who nmake the decisions. they're on the margins of how they carry out the tasks. >> hillary may be running for president, but that may have affected her r
