this photograph i call my john wayne photograph. it is a young boy, 13 years old. he has got what looks like a cowboy h i love this picture because this young man had been in the country three weeks when i took this photograph. after three weeks, look how adjusted he is to american culture. and he is ready to jump right in and look like a cowboy. we are at the museum in manchester. this is a small exhibit i put up with the staff from the manchester historic association. with photographs they have in their files from early days. some are over 100 years old. reporter: she says the idea is to show immigration and immigrants always have been and always will be part of new hampshire's history. >> this is one of my favorite pairings because it is so similar in the material in the photographs. in this case, a polish woman playing a mandolin in the 1930's. and w within instrument similar to a lute. it shows there is this interest in the immigrants in being able to continue their cultural traditions. reporter: the book is a nonprofit venture. all proceeds will be donated to
