joining me now is john yang who's spearheading the effort. see you, john. >> great to be here. >> when you say the core values of the republican party align with the core values of asian americans, what do you mean? >> well, asian americans believe in a strong work ethic and merit, they value education and the family and believe in entrepreneurship. that sounds like republican values. >> the interesting thing is when you look at how the voting worked out in the last 8 to 12 years, you see that it's been growing, that asian americans that be voting for the democratic presidential candidate. why? >> well, there are a couple of reasons. i think first and foremost, we haven't paid enough attention to them. so being there is quite important. we need to go after them in the way that speaks to their values, that speaks frankly to the way they think. after just effort, the other things we need to focus on are things we believe in that agrees with where they are. >> the other thing is getting them out to the polls. i was fascinated by these numbers. t
