i'm john yang.ry of state antony blinken's urgent mission to the middle east is pressing ahead on multiple fronts today, as israel's war against hamas in gaza enters its fourth month. in qatar, he sought to revitalize talks aimed at winning the release of the more than 100 hostages still held by hamas, including some americans. but the qatari prime minister acknowledged that this past week's targeted killing of a hamas leader in beirut had affected the talks, which qatar is mediating. ahead of blinken's stop in israel that begins tomorrow, military officials there said they've now dismantled hamas in northern gaza. in southern gaza, an airstrike killed two journalists, one the son of al-jazeera correspondent, wael dahdouh. an october strike killed dahdouh's wife, two other children, and a grandson. secretary of defense lloyd austin says he takes full responsibility for the delay in informing the white house and top pentagon colleagues of his hospitalization. in a statement, he said, "i recognize i c

as john yang explains it's treatable but there is still a stigma around it all too often.ording to the american cancer society, the five year survival rate is 99%. one in eight will -- prostate cancer represents a spectrum of disease. you are more likely to die with it then die from it. there are other types that are more aggressive that require some type of therapy, but all collectively resulted nature weight. the prostate is a small organ located deep in the pelvis and it's really a reproductive organ, it helps with men having to have children. now, one prostate cancer, we're talking about this >> secretary acosta says his cancer was part of the routine health screening. >> i think screening is critical and it involves identifying problem's in early stage when it's not only treatable but highly curable. for prostate cancer, we are checking a blood test as well as a rectal examination. an abnormality could suggest the presence of prostate cancer. >> screening. how soon should begin? we're looking at those with a first-degree male relative for genetic hereditary mutations.

john yang has more. , polls show that about seven in 10 americans say abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest. but since the supreme court overturned roe v. wade in 2022, nine states have banned abortion even in those cases. five others have exceptions for rape, but only in the very early stages of pregnancy or after the assault is reported to law enforcement. in a new study published this week in the journal of the american medical association, researchers use government data on sexual violence to calculate that since the supreme court said states could regulate abortion however they want, there have been more than 64,000 rape-related pregnancies in jurisdictions with bans. they estimate that 26,000 of those were in texas alone. dr. samuel dickman is one of the study's co-authors. he's an abortion provider and the chief medical officer for planned parenthood of montana. doctor, is there anything in what you found in your study that surprised you? dr. dickman: thank you, john. the numbers ar
