john zarrella is joining us from miami. ppening miles and miles and miles above earth. it also says on the commander's twitter account following both of them depressurization complete, e.v.a. now under way, working in the vacuum of space traveling at 17,500 miles per hour. tell us what's happening. >> it's phenomenal that when you think about it, that this is the 168th space walk in connection with construction of the international space station, maintenance of the international space station, and they make it so easy but clearly it is extremely dangerous out there working in the vacuum of space. they have to be oh so careful, oh so meticulous and unfortunately right now we're in one of those over the desert and out of range of the tracking and relay data satellite system so that's why we're seeing these pictures from mission control and not from space. the astronauts did open the air lock. again you mentioned victor about 30 minutes behind schedule. they'll get out there and what they're going to do is go through their tool

cnn's john zarrella is covering this from miami. what are they doing exactly right now, john? >> well, that's a space drill, brianna, that you're looking at with the number 2 on the top of it there. they're making a certain number of turns. you can see counterclockwise turns, backing out the bolts on that pump that they think might be the problem that caused this ammonia -- the cooling leak, in this ammonia system on the space station that they discovered just 48 hours ago. now, there you're looking at tom marshburn, and he's the camera guy. he's taking pictures. they're trying to see if they can see the little white ammonia flakes, or in i evidence of that ammonia leak that they did see a few days ago. we know the phrase, they're reporting no joy. they're not seeing anything. so this may complicate the whole issue of ultimately finding the leak. but right now, they're in the process of removing the pump. they pull it out and then they will put in a replacement pump, and they will look beneath that pump to see if they can find anyplace where there might be a leak. what you're

john zarrella is in zephyrhill, florida. right outside that publix. john, any idea who it is yet? >> i can tell you who it isn't, poppy? not you and not me. and it's probably not any publix employees like a group of them getting together. it might have been. but we've seen a bunch of them coming to work and one publix employee said this is the biggest thing that happened to zephyrhills. it has been known for bottled water for a long time and now known for the biggest powerball ever. they have 60 days to claim it and they'll have to go to tallahassee to actually collect on the ticket. that's where florida lottery headquarters is and there's nothing that says they have to get their ticket validated here. they could go straight to tallahassee. of course, as you know, the best advice that these people, whoever the winner is, is given is, get everything in order, go see a lawyer, get an accountant and do all that ahead of time before you go public. so, who knows. you know if we'll even know today, tomorrow or the next day who the winner is. poppy? >> you know, it's funny, i was talking

cnn's john zarrella is covering this from miami. just how big of a problem is this leak, and is it a safety concern for the crew at the iss? >> reporter: no, it's not. first thing we have to say is the crew was never in any danger with this. it is not a safety issue for the crew. but it's certainly a critical system issue they want to get fixed. you don't want ammonia coolant leaking out of the space station. they've had a similar problem in this very same area not long ago, but they weren't able to actually identify where it was exactly coming from or to be able to fix it. as you mentioned, they had been able to eyeball it this time, and they can see those tiny white flakes, which is ammonia, leaking from what they believe is around a pump area on the space station. what they decided to do was go out right away, very quickly get to the space walk. the reason they're doing it so quickly is because, once the ammonia leaks out from that area where it is, they won't be able to find it again because the pinprick hole, the size is so sma

john zarrella is covering the space walk from miami. how big of a deal is this, john? most of the time i talk to you, and we're all excited they're doing something kind of standard, that has been on the schedule. but this one kind of feels like maybe of more concern. >> yeah, no question about it. it's a leak in the cools system. ammonia is used to cool the space station's components. it literally draws the heat out of the components, and then that heat is transferred to radiators, that radiate the heat out into space. they've got a lot of redundancies, brianna, but you don't want to rely on those redundancies and all of those other cooling systems, you want all of them functioning. this is a priority item. what you're looking at there is through the helmet cam of astronaut chris cassidy. what they're doing is removing the spare pump that they have up there. they've already removed the one that was in place, where they thought that they were going to find the leak, or might find the leak. they did not find it. they're saying this ask a vexing problem now. they're not h

john zarrella is live in orlando with the details.these deceased men from 2011. after the boston bombings they suddenly started to investigate that lead. >> yeah, there's no question about it, christine. there were a lot of things that brought them between the bomber and ibragim todashev. this is still a crime scene more than 24 hours after todashev was shot and killed by authorities. now, some of todashev's friends have said that within days of the boston bombing the fbi were already looking at todashev. and the common thread between todashev and one of the boston bombers might have been massachusetts. sources tell cnn this man ibragim todashev knew boston suspects tamerlan and dzhokhar tsarnaev and todashev confessed to being, quote, directly involved in a triple murder in massachusetts, a federal law enforcement official tells cnn that todashev also implicated tamerlan tsarnaev in the murders. but todashev is now dead, shot during questioning by an fbi agent and two massachusetts state police officers in the kitchen of his orlando

i want to bring in our resident space expert, john zarrella. john, how did it turn out?eporter: don, it was just a couple of days ago when the astronauts and cosmonauts on the international space station noticed white flakes flying away from a section of the station. it was determined it was ammonia coolant leaking. nasa quickly mounted an eva and two astronauts today walked outside the international space station, went over to an area where a cooling pump was the suspect in this mystery that nasa was trying to solve. the astronauts when they got there couldn't see any more flakes, couldn't see any leaking of ammonia, but they went ahead. they pulled that pump out and put in a and low and behold, no more leaking of ammonia. they're hopeful, confident that they've solved the problem. in fact, the astronauts made quick short work of this, way ahead of the time line. they were back inside the space station about an hour ahead of schedule. again, nasa is going to watch this and monitor this. they're hopeful that they have fixed the ammonia leak problem. don? >> thank you ver

john zarrella is live in orlando with details.ood morning. >> it's been more than 24 hours since todashev was shot by law enforcement authorities at his apartment here in orlando. and you have to believe, because the crime scene is still active, that the fbi is going through everything in that apartment to find any links between todashev and the boston bombers to more than just the murder and perhaps other people who they might find information on in the apartment. but right now the only link between todashev and one of the boston bombers appears to be those murders. sources tell cnn that this man ibragim todashev knew boston bombing suspects tamerlan and dzhokhar tsarnaev and todashev confessed to being, quote, involved in a drug-related murder in massachusetts. a federal law enforcement alw s official tells cnn that todashev implicated tamerlan in the murders. but todashev is now dead, shot during questioning by an fbi agent and two massachusetts state police officers in the kitchen of his orlando apartment. law enforcement sour

. >> cnn's john zarrella is covering this story for cnn in orlando. what happened? shootout? >> reporter: well, jake, you know, as you guys can see, they're keeping us well away from the scene. probably a couple of hundred yards away. can't even see the apartment where it took place. but apparently they were actually interviewing todashev late last night, early this morning, and during the course of this interview, todashev apparently according to the fbi became very violent, and at that point a confrontation ensued. and the fbi agent apparently, according to the fbi, shot todashev. now, we know that since the boston bombing, the fbi has been looking for anyone who may have known the tsarnaev brothers. and trying to question them and to talk with them. so what sources are telling us is that todashev lived in boston a couple of years ago, and on his phone, cell phone, they found tamerlan tsarnaev's cell phone number. one possible link. they also say that both men were attended the same martial arts studio in the boston area, back a couple of years ago. they were both
