i think the show was not that remarkable, although it kind of launched johnny depp.he show was pretty serious. i think it took itself pretty seriously. this movie does not take itself seriously at all. in fact, there is a funny bit there in the beginning when the two cops get their assignment, and the sergeant says, yeah, we're just recycling some old ideas from the 1980's because we can't think of anything better. kind of a nod to the show. i think this was a really pleasant surprise. i laughed. i think the last time i laughed this hard in a movie, it was "bridesmade." you know how there is an acceptable amount of laughter? i almost lost it. so again, it is not really based on "21 jump street," except these two cops go back to high school. there was great chemistry. it was a funny film. what i liked about the film is that they themselves were in high school not that long ago, seven or eight years ago. but all the rules have changed. nobody calls anymore. it is all about texting now. whereas channing tatum, he was the cool guy and jonah was the nerd, and now the nerd
