i'll tell you more in a little bit. >> john: john san jose police are searching for suspects in that city's first homicide of the year. the victim was local high school student. polices responded to the shooting at 1:00 this morning. officers found 15-year-old oscar gonzalez of san jose on the front porch of his home, dead from at least one gun shot wound. investigators believe the shooting was gang-related. >>> san francisco also investigating its first homicide of the year. man was shot multiple times outside the club 21 bar at turk and taylor street. the victim was between 30 and 40 years old. investigators are trying to figure out what happened leading up to the killing. >>> there are dozens of new laws that go went into effect at the stroke of midnight. possession of an ounce of less of marijuana will be just an infraction similar to a traffic ticket. there is still $100 fine but no jail fine and won't go on your criminal record. >>> california is requiring baked goods made in the state have no trans-fat. all traffic tickets in the state will add an extra $4 to pay for air ambul

but at the same time so many of us were bereft of having lost to john. and having to deal with that was extremely challenging. i have a picture of john next to my desk. i will always remember him and his commitment. part of what i had to figure out on that day immediately was what was in charge of laguna right now. that is how things are. it was a sudden death. we were not at all prepared. but even at that moment, someone had to be in charge of laguna honda. you cannot have a hospital running without a license administrator in charge. i chose someone i have tremendous faith and, and also somebody that john had tremendous faith in. and i know that it was always intended. john had intended that succession. but it was not obviously going to be in the way it happened. it was going to be in a number of years. she would have had a chance to mentor into that role. people would have gotten used to her. when he felt we were taking care of he would have moved on. that was his way. instead, she was suddenly catapulted into this job in a much more difficult circumst

district court judge john roll.he line of cars and buses filled with mourners, including dozens of judges, stretched nearly a mile. national correspondent ben tracy is in tucson tonight. and ben, i understand there's also some good news there about some of the wounded. >> reporter: that's right, katie. there are still four people here at the hospital tonight from the shooting, and doctors say they're all doing extremely well. however, earlier today was the funeral for one of the victims, a man many called one of the hardest-working judges in as the motorde arrived at st. elizabeth ann seton church this morning, security was tight for the funeral of federal judge john roll. so many people came to pay their respects that dozens had to be turned away. judge roll was shot last saturday when he stopped by to talk to congresswoman gabrielle giffords. >> i loved all those people that died and all those people that are still in the hospital. >> reporter: at the hospital today, the memorial to the lost and the wounded contin

mourners came to pay their respects as 63-year-old federal judge john roll was laid to rest. dark days for a community shrouded in grief. and this community still has to bury four more victims. the congresswoman remains in critical condition here at the hospital. three others are in good condition, expected to be released soon. lester? >> kristen welker tonight, thank you. >>> each day of this tragedy seems to bring new bizarre details about the accused killer, jared loughner. the latest, the discovery of disturbing photos loughner dropped off at a local film developer the day before the attack. let's go to nbc's mike taibbi working that part of the story for us tonight. mike? >> reporter: good evening, lester. yes, bizarre is the right word. a nearly naked loughner is posing himself in these shots, in one case with a gun down by his crotch, another down by his buttocks. the film dropped off at processing one week ago at 11:35 at a nearby walgreen's. an hour later he checks into a motel 6, but apparently not to sleep. he's busy, up all night. at 4:12 in the morning, he posts

john, i'll start with you. >> well, ivory coast really is a test case. there is a great deal of diplomacy occurring now. escalating costs and consequences for the government in ivory coast and for what they're doing. eventually potentially military intervention if the government that lost the election if the president doesn't actually vacate his office. similarly in sudan, there has to be a cost and consequence. if the government of sudan is going to undermine it and continue to undertake human rights violations in darfur, there has to be a diplomatic consequence. there must be escalating sanctions and costs that are accruing to any party that undertakes these kinds of actions that lead to mass human suffering. >> george? >> yeah, i think that's the important part of this is that -- i agree with john. i mean that's exactly what i was going to say, so he sort of took the words out of my mouth. >> well, i mean i guess the larger question, george, is the world has shown no willingness really to do anything about atrocities in africa. you know this better th
