cnn international correspondent jomana karadsheh is in beirut. she joins us now live and jomana, i know you've been monitoring this i see you looking behind you. what? what is happening right now well jessica, just in the last few minutes, we've heard another blast. >> what appears to have been another strike not far from the one we were just showing you a few minutes ago. um you know, we've been speaking over the past hour. we have been describing the scene that we are seeing in the southern suburbs of beirut where we have seen israeli military airstrikes focused for the past ten days or so. and this night appears to be another intense night of bombardment. it is unclear what the target of these strikes was but we do know that the idf put out these warnings in posts on x by its arabic language spokesperson asking residents of a number of neighborhoods in the southern suburbs to evacuate immediately to move away from a number of buildings that they've pinpointed on a map saying that they are near hezbollah facilities installations and that they ne

rockets into northern israel, where israeli officials say some homes were damaged and cnn's jomana karadsheh is in lebanon for us. jomana, what can you tell us about these attacks across lebanon's border today it has been pretty active today every day of this past ten days, jim, hezbollah claiming that it has carried out 14 attacks targeting israeli troops. >> they saying israeli territory as well as those trying to advance into southern lebanon as well, that in 14 statements from hezbollah as questions are being raised about their capabilities right now after the severe blows that they have faced in recent weeks, but clearly from these statements, they say that they are still active and they're still carrying out these attacks. now, elsewhere in the country here in beirut, in the southern suburbs, we've seen strike after, strike earlier this afternoon. our team saw what appear to be an israeli strike. really close to beirut's international airport. this is one of many strikes that happened during the day and we have to mention these happened with no prior warning. yes. it is targeting the s

let's go back to cnn's jomana karadsheh she is there and jomana, i know you've been monitoring this. tell us what you're seeing, what you're hearing think you might still be able to see that thick plume of smoke, a fire burning that is coming from the southern suburbs of beirut this is coming after a strike. >> we heard a short time ago. it appears we are seeing potentially secondary explosions going on there right now. it is unclear what was targeted, but this is one of several strikes we have seen in the last half hour or so and it is continuing. we've heard this rumbling in the distance and then you would hear the blast and see the you would see the red flashes. this ball of fire. and that is coming from one of those locations as you can see, it appears to be still burning. and you can still hear some blasts every now and then and as i mentioned, it's unclear right now what it was that struck, but we do know that this is in the southern suburbs of beirut we know that the israeli military in the last hour or so put out warnings saying that it was going to carry out strikes in diffe

that's a refined cnn's jomana karadsheh and lebanon jomana, obviously there's a real question there earlier i was talking to ben wedeman. he was describing celebratory gunfire as iran was launching this attack against israel earlier. it's still not knowing what the impact of that was going to be what's the latest on the ground now? >> well, you know, kaitlan that gunfire that ben described it, gunfire, some fireworks coming from the southern suburbs of beirut. it was pretty limited, pretty small the southern suburbs is where has had a heavy presence in the past. you still have a, lot of supporters of the group in the southern suburbs. so really no surprise seeing that sort of moment of celebration that they had with the iranian attack on israel considering the heavy blows that the group had has incurred in recent days. but overall all the mood in this country is one of apprehension and anxiety i mean people are very, very concerned about what is coming next as that attack the iranian attack on israel was unfolding. it did appear for a bit like there was a low in the airstrikes that have bee

cnn's nic robertson is in tel aviv, israel and jomana karadsheh joins us from beirut, jomana to you first what do we know about this latest explosion? it was massive, it was powerful and in the heart of beirut long and terrifying night for the people of beirut last night we were here on the roof and we could see those airstrikes. >> and the strikes continuing all night. it started about midnight with air strikes hitting the southern suburbs of beirut behind me, you could still see some of the smoke rising behind over my shoulder there. the israeli strikes focused in recent weeks the southern suburbs, that is really hezbollah's seat of power and the idf saying it is going after hezbollah targets. there. but then what? we saw late on the evening was this big strike in the heart of beirut and it came with no warning. sara, we did not hear from the idf the usual warnings for civilians to leave the area it was targeting, it here's a hezbollah-affiliated health authority in the heart of beirut, at least nine people were killed, seven of them medics, according to that health authority. but this

it a limited operation targeting hezbollah, but it has not given a timeline just yet, cnn's jomana karadsheh is in beirut. this morning a windy beirut as i see what are you seeing and hearing from your vantage point? >> well, you know, sara, we've heard from the israeli military saying that this is a limited ground operation that they have launched, that this is going to be targeted raids in southern lebanon going after hezbollah targets. now what we understand from three security sources, one with the nations peacekeeping forces unit fell and two, senior lebanese security sources, they're telling us that israel has not yet launched a full scale invasion into southern lebanon. they're describing this as sporadic raids across the border, but no israeli boots remain on the ground there's no presence of israeli forces. they're only coming in conducting these rates and going back according to the sources. but we also do know from the lebanese state news agency as well as residents in the border region in the south is that there's been intense artillery shelling and airstrikes began last night an
