jon: does that mean job cuts?of electrification. many places of the world, the customer has not totally recognized ev's are a better car. when there are subsidies to raise the cost of electrification, then the country -- then the customers by ev's. when you remove the subsidies, you have this exert -- you have this example in germany, and italy, customers stop buying ev's because they are not affordable enough. the challenge for the industry in the next four years is to absorb the additional cost of electrification to protect the middle classes. can by ev's at an affordable price. the transformation of the industry is just starting. we are transforming our company because new technologies are in, softer platforms, many components, a time as, all of this costs a lot of money. at the same time you need to bring affordability to the middle class. if we do not do our homework, in terms of productivity, then you will not be able to compete because some of the new entrance will show you your cost will not be enough. we

jon: helpful context.ne of the reasons why we have seen energy stocks cashed in a bit on this friday within the dow. names like chevron that happen standouts. i think at the end of the day, a lotta people are continuing to look at the comments during earnings, outlooks for various companies that continue to report including lift. what a jaw-dropping decline for that stock, down 36% near the bottom of nasdaq performance today on the concerns of the prophet picture. cloud fair by comparison with an encouraging enough outlook that those shares are up 1% right now and splitting the difference, you've got new will brands, the home of rubbermaid, sharpie, coal mines, a lot of consumer touch points. it does seem there are challenges with respect to the road ahead there. a bit of cautious trading in brand shares. kriti: earnings story still combating the macro story, which is where we are going next. eta shows the u.s. consumer sentiment climbed to a more than one year high in january. take a listen. >> consumers

jon: meghan, let's put this into a time frame.elieve you and your team have talked about inflation levels that we have become accustomed to in recent years, or at least target levels for central banks like the fed that it is not realistic in your team's view to be getting back there until the back half of 2024? meghan: that is correct. one point you brought up earlier was the extent of cuts priced in to the second half of this year. that is been something that is -- that has moderated how much we are able to see the two-year rate go higher. limited to the extent we can see rates move higher across the curve at this point in time. as the fed has been guiding toward reaching this terminal rate, however one thing we look at specifically in inflation markets as you have referenced is how quickly the markets expecting us to get back down to the feds target cpi reading. you see the market expecting the fed to be able to achieve this in the middle of the year and be able to maintain those low inflation levels over the second half of the

jon: this is bloomberg markets, i am jon erlichman with kriti gupta.g costs and headcount across the business will fall by upwards of 60%, a huge shakeup for a company that led the charge in the cannabis sector after justin trudeau's government legalize recreational marijuana. these are big changes for this company. >> five years later, i do not think canopy growth could expected being the leader in canada with roughly a quarter of the market share now dwindling to the low single-digit, necessary to take restructuring announcements today, given the fact the company has too much competition in the canadian market. as the ceo alluded to earlier today, the illicit market still accounts for 40% of sales in canada. there is no enforcement or virtually little enforcement in canada to get the 40% down to zero. it is an onerous environment for companies like canopy growth and other canadian operators to deal with. we have seen moves in the past that are similar. it will be interesting to see whether the canopy decision comes too little too late. kriti: bringin
