jon.trey thank you, it was 2005 that israel pulled out of the gaza strip. is there talk of going back in there again and perhaps, you know, renewing the operation of the gaza strip that they had for all of those years? >> yes. there is talk of that today. we have been speaking with israeli military sources to get a better understanding of what's on the table. we interviewed prime minister benjamin netanyahu earlier this year and we talked about palestinian militants inside gaza. we have reported often from inside the strip. and there's a real understanding from our vantage point that if israel goes into gaza, there will be many more casualties it is be a bloody and long battle but given what's taken place today a massacre of israeli civilians it is certainly a possibility here in southern israel. jon. jon: trey reporting trey, thank you. i'm jon scott taking over for eric shawn at the white house president biden condemned appalling assault the president spoke with prime minister benjamin n

jon: i'm jon erlichman. welcome to "bloomberg markets". matt: and i'm matt miller. the jobs blowout this morning drove equity markets down and yields higher, but we have had a turnaround. equity markets are gaining and we are at a session high on the s&p. 1.2% the gain. take a look at the 10-year yield, 4.78. earlier we shot up over 4.88. hitting fresh highs since 2007. yields are still high relatively. the bloomberg dollar index continues to come down from the high for the year days ago. 12.71 the level. nymex crude has entered correction territory. down maybe 10% this week alone. nymex crude trading at $82.72. jon: we are watching the oil story in canada and the currency story as well. we have seen the canadian dollar stronger. a lot of people were thinking the bank of canada has got to continue to navigate the inflation challenge given resiliency in the canadian job market. smaller economy, but still, the nearly 64,000 jobs created in september was triple what the economists who track these data points were expecting. the unemployment rate held steady, 5.5%. but

jon: i want to keep an eye on what is happening with tech. there have generally been a bid for a lot of names. we will get tesla and netflix results this week. weakness and apple shares. new survey data suggesting the demand for the current iphone in china is less than for the previous model. we covered the high-profile ipo of instacart recently. we are now at that point were in analyst reports start coming out. most were bullish but that is not done too much for the stock today. one stock that is getting a lot of attention on wall street is lululemon. it will be the new addition to the s&p 500, replacing activision blizzard. that is up 10%. also, you are tracking some of the guidance from drug players like moderna, which is up 5%. some of that strife ties back to pfizer. more on that later. matt: interesting staff. -- stuff. i also want to point out that the israeli currency is reconvened -- weakening. as it times, that means the shekel is getting weaker and weaker. you can buy more of them and it has just crossed the threshold of four per d

here's the other issue, jon.in mccarthy work with democrats they worked with democrats to get this bill passed. people here who follow the commerce out that was always going to be the avenue they were going to go along. kevin mccarthy could never get all republicans to caramelized around the gop only bill. the route to funding the government to prevent a shot that was working with democrats. matt gaetz the republican from florida has consistently said that he might drop on the house speaker if he was to work with democrats here and he would call for a motion to vacate the chair. this would be to demand a new speaker election in the middle of the congress. we have not had one of those since 1910. it's unclear if he could get to that point. to vote on speaker it took 15 rounds back in january but tonight they are funding the government. there will not be a shutdown but, monday the focus will be on this conflict between matt gaetz and speaker kevin mccarthy. i don't just second-guess you at all you sound very confid
