i'm jon scott in for shepard smith. this is "the fox report."it's it's going down to the wire in south carolina. even tonight on primary eve, some voters say they still have not made up their minds. check this out. undecided was actually beating rick perry with 6% before he got out of race yesterday. that's according to an automated rasmussen survey. dead heat at the top, analysts say the folks on the fence could make a big difference. jon roberts live in charleston, south carolina, now. john? >> jon, 6% of people who say they haven't made up their minds and a whole lot more than that said they could change their minds. all of this chaos in the campaign in the last few days has created uncertainty in the undecided and leaning voters. one woman said she went to the polling precinct the other day to cast early ballot. she went into the booth and couldn't pull the trigger. another woman i talked to said she loved newt gingrich's debate. she is afraid he will implode. some people haven't heard enough about the issues they want to hear about. take fo

that is the jon scott vote, right? $364. jon: i couldn't afford that. jenna: next up, mitt romney, the former governor of mass as -- massachusetts. won iowa eight votes. each vote costing him $49. rick santorum though got the best value by far. according to what we're looking at here, the former senator of pennsylvania coming in second place, spending just over $21,000 in iowa. winning over 29000 votes. that means each vote he got cost him 73 cents. jon: how many pair of shoes did he go through visiting all 9 counties in that state? jenna: sweater vests. that is his trademark. jon: he is little engine that could. he is plugging away in iowa a long time. last night it paid off for him. we're continuing to watch for michele bachmann. when she speaks we'll take you back there live to des moines. right now president obama is taking his economic message and a controversial appointment to ohio. that critical swing state is one that he won in 2008. he's expected to speak there this afternoon and he will challenge his republican rivals on the economy in this hi

jon: i'm jon scott.s we have been telling you about bus tours, town halls, chili dinners, rallies on the way to the 2012 elections. this is where the candidates are today and with hours to go before the caucus meetings begin the fight for iowa may depend on one group, all the undecided voters who have yet to make up their minds. bret baier is the anchor of special report and joins us now. how many people have you talked to who were still undecided, bret? >> reporter: i talked to a number of people in different events who said they were still tasting the flavor of different candidates, as one lady told me, and she was down to two. but most of the people you talk to at these events have come to their decision, and they are kind of sealing the deal. the fact that that des moines register poll over the weekend said 41% is still undecided is pretty remarkable when you think about it. all of the folks going into precincts and hearing speeches that possibly could sway how they vote on that secret ballot. jon: i

i'm jon scott. jenna: i'm jenna lee. hi, everybody, we're glad you're with us in the fox news room and happening now. new poll numbers out of florida, with less than a week to go before the primary. jon: the american research group finding former massachusetts governor mitt romney ahead in florida. he has 41% of the vote. former house speaker newt gingrich has 34. jenna: in the latest "quinnipiac poll" if the race were between president obama and mitt romney they're both tied at 45%. jon: compare that to a contest between mr. obama and newt gingrich. president obama with 50% and newt gingrich with 39. bob cusack, managing editor of "the hill." what is the significance of these numbers, bob? >> i think it is pretty significant. mitt romney is starting to gain. the newt is starting to slip. the big question is this the beginning of mitt romney's come back or is this the beginning of the end for mitt romney? you can't overestimate or over state how important florida is. in 2008 john mccain won florida and that was nominatio
