jon: i'm jon scott. the president obama's campaign says if mr. romney only releases five years of tax returns the president's team will not criticize him for not releasing anymore at all, ever. that offer coming in a public letter from campaign manager jim messina to his counterpart on team romney there is already a response. we've chief white house correspondent ed henry at white house with that ed? >> reporter: good to see you, jon. what the obama campaign is asking for five years of tax returns, 2007 to 2012. the rationale being that is the time frame mr. romney launched his two presidential campaigns over last two cycles. campaign is saying just give us that range. jim messina the cam pain manager in chicago, if the governor will release five years of returns i commit we will not criticize him for res more or ads or other public commentary from the rest of the campaign. quick response in moments from matt rhodes, he is the campaign manager for mitt romney in where the governor is in meetings. he says
