i was very surprised on the last time i reread jon stewart mills on liberty. i discovered that that was the entire focus of his whole essay, not government coercion of speech, but peer pressure and social pressure. so, certainly, as a civil libertari libertarian, i recognize that any body or group that has sufficient power to curtail individual liberty is a problem of concern that i would want to do something about. i do have to say, in this audience, that my libertarian friend at the kato institute -- i have their constitution here, very much say well it is none of the government's business to regulate the private sector. but i think we would all agree that we certainly, as those people can be raising their voices because that's what they are doing, right? they are engaging in counter-speech. those of us who think that's inappropriate have to do the same thing. we have to agitate through writing, through speaking, through pressure on the businesses because after all a lot of this takes place in businesses. if they understand that they are going the lose custo
