jonathan katz is a senior fellow with the american global policy think tank the german marshal fan. he joins me from washington dc. welcome to d. w sir. i'd like to get your thoughts on where things stand now, because most observers thought russia would quickly overrun ukraine, but that hasn't happened. what's your sense of the situation? yeah, i mean we're really in a period of continuous escalation and despite the desires to see russia de escalate, move its troops out, even the conversations that happened today between ukrainians and russians. i think there isn't, at least in washington, many who feel like this is, is going to end anytime soon. in fact, only an escalation. and when you see the types of weapons being used indiscriminately in ukraine, by the russian army and military, you have to be concerned about how this is going to play out with over $500000.00 plus refugees right now. you know, hundreds of thousands more displaced internally, more people being killed on a daily basis. and mr. put, not willing to back down. this is headed for a collision course with the united s
