jonathan martin has given an interview. he dived into the issues. now that he's spoken out. was there anything that surprised you. >> the number one thing that surprised me was he never went to his coach. that says there was an atmore fear that felt so dangerous and repressive and so winked at by the people in charge that he felt he had no recourse other than physically removing himself from the situation. that is a toxic environment. >> any chance this will change the culture of the n.f.l. >> i think it already had. we've had guidelines of hazing going back to the mid 1990s. they haven't followed but existed for two decade. that there are no guidelines. >> will we see martin or his alleged bullier on the field plays in the n.f.l. again. >> martin definitely incognito. he may have to do song and dance or the oprah interview. he'll cry on your shoulder and the door will be open to him. show. >> the show may be over, but the conversation continues. check >> voting disrupted. protesters try to stop elections in thailand, but the prime minister says the vote must go on. >> the v

jonathan martin has more on that. and jonathan, how did the judge react to the sister? >> well, the judge said that he thought that the sister was a good person, and the other two that were involved. but he couldn't ignore the fact that what they did was serious. sister rice told the judge, please let me stay in prison for the rest of my life. and the fact that she was an 84-year-old nun, and he didn't want to give her a life sentence, and the fact that she had done a lot of good work over the years, working in africa and teaching children, and considering that none of these defendants were violent in what they did, but he said what they did was serious when they broke into this nuclear facility here in tennessee, spray painting the walls, and splattering blood on the walls, and writing biblical messages. he said it was something that was serious, and something that they had to do time for. so he sentenced sister rice to three years, roughly, and he could have gone much higher, up to or 8 years. and the other men, considering their critical history, they got more time,

the uaw added: >> uaw has seen its membership drop 75% since 1979. jonathan martin covered the story ex-tensively and from the beginning. good morning, what incentives did workers have to vote against joining the union? >> you know, a lot of the workers we spoke to over the past week or so before the vote told us that they were afraid voting for a union would affect their pay and benefits. many said things are fine the way they are. we have great communication with management, and we fear that if we have a union, if it unionizes it will add more red tape. they were fearful of what union representation might do. a lot of the outside groups came in saying "if you start a union, you'll see what happens in detroit with those automakers." a lot of workers said, "let's keep things the way they are because there is so much uncertainty. >> you mentioned union representation. some union members blame the defeat on outside interference. who, exactly, are the third parties they are referencing. is it fair to say the g.o.p. pressure tipped the vote. >> there was a lot of g.o.p.

. >>> now, tonight, the answer to a question everyone has been asking about a big story we reported. jonathan martin, pro football player, said his teammates bullied him and a new report, tonight, reveals how you bully someone that big and how deeply it can cut. abc's ryan smith has the new details. >> reporter: today we learned what it takes to 6' 5," 312-pound lineman out of the sport he loves. the nfl's independent investigator releasing a report ticking through how jonathan martin and others were victims of frequent harassment at the hands of richie incognito and other players. evidence of vulgar sexual comments about martin's mother and sister sometimes coming multiple times a day. incognito's voice mails and text messages calling martin the "n" word ad "shine box," and in-person jokes about slavery. and homophobic and other degrading slurs hurled by other linemen, with such frequency that it became, according to martin, "a routine part of his life with the dolphins." during it all, martin e-mailing his mother. "i'm a pushover." and the investigators say there was a notebook, kept by incognito,

offensive line, but that's just one part as this story has already taken plenty of twists and turns. when dolphins offensive tackle jonathan martinalked away from the team in october, it was like opening up pandora's box. he was the subject of intense bullying. on november 4th the dolphins suspended incognito saying, quote, we believe in maintaining a culture of respect for one another, and as a result, we believe this decision is in the best interests of the organization at this time. the nfl has been left to defend its culture while it's fans had to ask can a 300-pound man be bullied. the public learned incognito had a history of bullying rookies. and on november 6th we heard some racially charged voicemails and video. martin left with representatives investigating allegations of workplace harassment. at issue for the investigator is when does hazing qualify as harassment and bullying. two days later, incognito spoke with fox sports for the first time and said quote . . . the nfl's investigation concluded in late november and all was silent until january 31st. that's when incognito's lawyers released text share between the team

has been waiting to hear from. we have been wanting to know what happened with the richey incognito, jonathan martin bullying incidentthe course of 2013, ted wells was assigned to this investigation as an independent investigator by commissioner roger goodell. some of the findings he came back with that i think are the most surprising. he had a couple other people on a consistent base harassing jonathan martin. john jerry in connection with ric richie incognito. it wasn't just jonathan martin but an assistant trainer and a younger offensive lineman. they are referred to as player "a." there is not a name to the assistant trainer. it said martin was taunted on a persistent basis with not only sexually explicit remarks but also racially charged, racially slurred, racially derogatory language on a consistent basis. this was the subject of him leaving the team abruptly in 2013. the report also says that martin was so stressful on him that it was consistent with contributing to his mental health issues. two different times in 2013, he said he considered suicide. another important point that i found to be important is that
