oakland police officer has been ruled as justified and independent monitor found the shooting of jonathan torresirez to be within the department policy. the 20 year old was shot and killed in december of 2020 after he ran over an officer and almost hit another. police say he was trying to get away after burglarizing a marijuana shop near 92nd avenue. an officer then shot and killed. ramirez police arrested more than a dozen people that night targeting pot shops and recovered nine guns. the man accused of killing former police officer and security guard kevin nishida was in court for his arraignment today. the judge granted shadia mitchell three week continuance before having to enter a pleat. that means he's scheduled to return to court on april. 15th 25 year old is charged with murder, attempted robbery and assault and being convicted that being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm the sheet it was a retired san jose hayward and colma police officer. he was killed while working security protecting a television news crew in downtown oakland last november. his family was in the courtroom
