the latest in this update from correspondent jonathan vigliotti. >> reporter: there was a moment earlyened at this home in san francisco's pacific heights appeared to be a random crime. through the shattered glass of a patio door, a muffled call to 911 revealed something far more ominous. >> he was able to call 911 and dispatch took it from there and read between the lines. >> reporter: the victim was 82-year-old paul pelosi, husband of house speaker nancy pelosi, second in line to the presidency. the attacker, identified at 342-year-old david depape, was armed with a hammer and a long internet history espousing political conspiracy theories. once inside the pelosi home, sources say depape screamed, where is nancy, where is nancy. the house speaker was in washington at the time with her security detail. paul pelosi here alone convinced depape to let him use the bathroom and that's when he called for help. he managed to hold off the attack until police arrived. >> our officers observed mr. pelosi and the suspect both holding a hammer. the suspect pulled the hammer away from mr. pelosi a
