jonathan vigliotti from cbs news is on the island of maui and joins us now. le being looked after? jane, this morning on the island a growing sense of desperation, people are desperate to get off the island, others are desperate to return back to their homes, and then there are those that i desperately trying to get in touch with their family members who at this hour are still missing. we are talking right now thousands of people who have been evacuated, many of them, as you heard in richard's piece, are stranded at the airport, tourists looking to get off the island. but then there are thousands of residents who are currently being sheltered in temporary shelters. the governor is calling on all residents here who have homes to open up their doors to some of these evacuees and also asking hotels to make their rooms available to them. resources here on the island have been incredibly stretched thin and right now it is all hands on deck. the military has been brought into the island. they are searching and looking for any of the missing and also we can tell you
