[applause] jordan: so, i listened to governor desantis talk about the honorable nature of the trades. i was thinking about what to say when i got up here. two phrases entered my mind. one was to ideas, one that christ was a carpenter and the other was that thought allows our ideas to die in our stead. you might think, what could possibly be the relationship between those two ideas? niall ferguson talked about freedom of speech. one of the things that i see is doing very wrong in our society, even those of us who are firmly on the side of freedom of speech, is to think about freedom of speech in some sense as a freedom and second of all, as one freedom among many. this is not the case. the reason that christ is a carpenter is because a carpenter builds something. a good carpenter is allied with the truth because otherwise, the health that house that he builds will not stand. at the same time, the logos is the centerpiece of a productive, prosperous and free society. that is because free

i didn't think anything, because i had heard of jordan peterson yet. i said what is he going to say? it is a very important task to attempt a book of such to stick power and so forth. he was nice enough through the publisher to send along a draft of what he had come up with. both i and my brothers who are involved in curating as best we can wearing that hat as best we can, we were so deeply impressed. impressed with jordan peterson's ability to get to the heart of the matter. to the heart of what makes that book immortal and to the heart of the insight that he offered not just the factual highly important notion of setting the facts straight and saying these bad guys did these horrible things to an is people. that alone deserves recognition. his real insight that you responded to was about that famous and profound line from part for about the line between good and evil. he says it passes not between governments, not between political parties, but through the heart of every human being. through the heart of each one of us. he said that line can oscillat

that mainstream media isn't going to be like, oh, jordan peterson returns to rogan. you know what a fantastic episode they're going to find something he sat in there and then try and discredit him that way. stifling people's freedom of speech is more dangerous than allowing people to speak. and i mean, joe rogan as a comedian. right? so people watching his podcast should be aware that he comes out all these ideas about colvin and climate. whatever that's being discussed, as a curious comedian is not an expert. i think he poses an actual danger to the mainstream narrative. so most of the news stations people see all say the same thing. they all have one way of thinking. and joe rogan, not that he's an expert in any of these areas, but he talks to whoever he wants and he puts forth a narrative that isn't mainstream. you can't stop people from talking about the as i these ideas anyway, because it increases curiosity. right? so just the i, the whole thing about stifling free speech doesn't work. so it's silly to dale, it's dangerous to do, and i don't think it's effectiv
