>> reporter: jose, good morning. investigators are still combing the crime scene here, working to make sense of what happened. they're obtaining search warrants for the suspect's home, looking through social media, and really trying to drill down on what the motive is here and whether or not there is information that suggests this was an attack targeting the lgbtq plus community. what we are continuing to learn is the timeline which is pretty remarkable. police say this 22-year-old suspect walked in with a long rifle and several magazines and just began shooting. but within one minute the two people inside the club, as you mentioned, were able to tackle and sub due this shooter. within minutes after that, police were there. they were able to apprehend the suspect and get paramedics and first responders in there to start triaging the victims and getting them to hospitals. so all of this unfolding in the span of five minutes. the shooter was able to kill five people and injure 25 people here. now, the gunman is in cust

some of that wa pretty heavy, down in san jose. they got a little downpour, and it feels like we have been seeing a lot of this this week. i suppose the question, will we be seeing more? before i get t that, we are talking about the cold too, and i was just tellin you it feels like every time around this time of year it was so hot, and all of the sudden i is cold. >> the bottom drops out. which is unique to the bay area and california, particularly. in other parts of the country, it peaks in july, august, it slowl coasts down into winter. our temperatures peak around labor day, and throughout all of fall it is just plummeting down to temperatures we are experiencin right now. let's take a look at the corrupt temperatures we usually experienced, or what we call meteorological autumn, again, the norman warmest time of year is late october, and those temperatures just drop like a stone us we had through late october and into november. and by the time we get to the end of this month, the average temperatures for san francisco, san jose

certainly san jose in particular. how do you how do you feel that's going to impact your now leadership? you're going to have a lot of people who are looking for work and less income, less income tax coming into the area. >> you're right about that. we there's no doubt we hit. we face economic headwinds. and yeah, i think the most important thing we can do is a starting place is is become more efficient and innovative in government so that we do more with less than i don't think we're likely in the next few election cycles to be in position to go to the voters and ask them for a new tax revenue bond to solve our problems. quite to the contrary, we have to take the dollars we already have and use them more effectively. that's why i ran against the idea of solving homelessness by building brand new apartments of nearly 1 million dollars a door. there are much more cost-effective ways to get people inside. and so i think it's going to force us to be more innovative. as for the broader economy, we live in a place with mos

>> reporter: hey, jose. here in maricopa county have acknowledged they had to move the goalpost so to speak. originally, they were hoping to have 90 to 95% of the votes in arizona's largest county counted, tabulated by the end of today. they say that given the situation looks like it will take longer than that, given as you mentioned 100,000 more people dropped off those mail in ballots in person on election day. those ballots take longer to process because they have to go through what's called signature verification. now, we're expecting the first results from that 290,000 beginning later tonight and that will give us a sense of how this is going to ultimately play out in 2018, those ballots, those mail in ballots that were dropped off in person trended towards the democrats but trended towards republicans in 20 and that's what republican candidates are counting on for this race. again, we'll have a better idea, start to get a greater understanding of the overall situation later tonight when the results dro
