breaking news in san jose. east san jose, police investigating a deadly shooting. it is the city's first homicide of the new year. it happened hours ago near 33rd and east san antonio street, that's just north of the highway 101 and 680 interchange. bob redell is live at the scene with an update to the investigation. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning. in the past 30 minutes the homicide detective with san jose police have arrived and focusing on a driveway a couple houses down here on the 1600 block of east san antonio where a man is lying dead. someone driving by around 1:30 this morning called 911 to report that he was in that driveway when the paramedics arrived he was unresponsive. they performed cpr. they were not able to revive him. he was pronounced dead making him the first person to be murdered in san jose in this new year, 2014. what make this is story a little odd is that residents actually heard gun shots about an hour to 45 minutes prior to that 911 call, they also heard a car driving off but for whatever reason, no one bothered to call 911.
