you know i grew up in san jose. and losing a police officer, we don't think of ourselves as being a dangerous city here. and we don't lose officers all that often. and the last one was in 2001. so these people are obviously a part of our community. officer johnson went to gunderson high school. i grew up and played football there in high school, played basketball in high school. all these people are linked. i friends in the san jose police department who i grew up with as well. you know they know officer johnson. so people are really impacted by what's taking place. it's interesting, i have a friend in morgan hill police department who is patrolling in san jose today. and they all feel that obligation to come here and help out in whatever way they can. and it really is remarkable here in san jose, when you do lose an officer and just the outpouring of support and love from the community to the police department despite what has taken place over the last couple years with the pension reform issues and the department

>> priscilla worked ten and 12 hours day, six or seven days a week, in san jose. did you ever get paid overtime? >> no. >> but you always worked it? >> yes. >> soriano filed a complaint, and courts rules she was owed nearly $65,000. but she is not alone. we requested all wage claims filed with the state dating back to 2010. we found that statewide in the last four years courts and the labor commission have ruled against 17,000 different companies and awarded workers $274 million. $81 million of those unpaid wages were from companies right here in the bay area. many of them repeat offenders. the crazy buffet in sunny valley employees there filed 18 different wage complaints against the restaurant and courts rules in their favor in most cases, awarding them half a million dollars. here is the data, we tried to call and your phone is not working, you guys are listed as not paying your workers to the tune of $500,000. but the man we saw as the manager tried to walk away. other local companies such as united meat company, even bottle rock concert in napa they have all

jose police officers.or sam la card do and three other city council members have said the city should move forward with this technology. if today they decide to go ahead and give at this time green light, then come this fall 12 officers would test the body cameras, evaluating everything from how easy they are to use to the quality of the video. information from the four-month test will help the city come up with a proposal to get the goid cameras for much of the police force. but that could take six months to complete. so it's not likely body cameras will be widely used until next year. today the city council will also review a report from the police chief saying the department is still working with the police union to look at officers' rights and privacy issues. a department of justice study found police departments using cameras reduced the risk of litigation. now, this won't be the first pilot program. san jose also tested body cameraing in 2009 and 2012 but the program never got past the pilot stage. a

for san jose police officers. if they give the green light this afternoon 12 officers would test them evaluating everything from how easy they are to use to the quality of the video. information from the four-month test will help the city come up with a proposal to get the body cameras for much of the police force. that could take six months to complete. so it's not likely body cameras will be widely used until next year. today the city council will also review a report from police chief larry. he says the department is still working with the police union to look at officers' rights and privacy issues. and there are also questions surrounding how long the video will be saved and who will have access to it. this won't be the first pilot program. san jose tested body cameras in 2009 and 2012 but the program never got past its pilot stage. as we saw last week in south carolina videos can help provide valuable information about fatal shootings involving police officers. authorities released dash cam video in connectio
