garcia. that strike was suspended by union leaders yesterday as negotiations continue. nbc bay area's kris sanchez is outside of san jose city hall as leaders are meeting. what's the latest, kris? >> reporter: well, we saw san jose city workers showing up for work today as scheduled instead of going onto the picket lines because of that agreement that appears to be close between what the city wants and what the union wants. the san jose city council went into closed session just after 9:30 this morning to consider that agreement. no one signed up for public comment, so i think everyone is playing it pretty close to the vest. city negotiators and union leadership were close enough to put a 24-hour pause on the three-day planned strike which was, as you said, supposed to begin at 6:00 this morning. at this point the details of the deal are not public, but we know in terms of salary increases in the next three years, the city and the unions were about 6% apart. in order for this deal to move forward, at least six council members have to vote to accept it, then it goes back to the union for final approval. the last word was

jose international, and their luggage was gone. this wasn't an airline mistake. two men say their suitcases were stolen from a baggage carousel at the airport in terminal b shortly after they landed last friday. jeff garcia said he put an air tag in his suitcase, tracked the bag, leaving the airport, getting on highway 87, and eventually arriving at a homeless encampment off of story road. he did call police. by the time they reached that area, they only found one of his t-shirts and the empty box from a souvenir. todd ryan's suitcase was stolen. police found one of his limited edition t-shirts at the encampment, everything else, including treasured gifts from his kids, gone. >> they need to have an accountability system. when you check in your bag, you're given a stub. it should be the same process to pick that bag up, so it only can be picked up by the person with the stub. >> i can tell you, airport operators tell us that baggage handling and delivery is the responsibility of each airline. so we did reach out to southwest, the airline in this case. our marianne favro will have their response and what the airport and airline are now dogin to try to stop these crimes. that's coming up at 6:00. >>> well,

garcia said, three weeks ago. that was august fourth in the 1600 block of parkmoor avenue. relatives had called san jose police asking for a welfare check on the occupants of the apartment that's in the parkmoor buena vista section of the city. when officers arrived, they found six year old jordan kam walker and a 71 year old woman stabbed to death. the woman has since been identified as walker's great grandmother, but her family has not released her identity and out of respect, we're not going to identify her. the motive behind the killing of the boy is unclear and as i said earlier, it's unclear if addison will be charged with both crimes. if mr. addison is associated with both of these homicides, he will be facing special circumstances and could be facing the death penalty. what you'd likely to see is the beginning of a mental health evaluation by the defense. if the family members are saying mr. addison is someone that was in a mental health crisis, that could play a factor in how this case moves forward, addison will be arraigned at 130 this afternoon. inside department 23 here at the hall of justi
