international relations expert, joseph gregory mahoney, says manila may keep from picking sides in an attempt to maintain a balance between the opposing powers. i don't think that we're going to see much change, at least not in the short term clearly for what we're seeing from the candidates themselves. their initial concerns are looking at domestic issues within the philippines because they know that china is distracted right now. they know the united states is distracted right now, both with coded or recovering from co that or with the war and ukraine in the case united states. so from all the news that i'm saying they're focus right now on domestic affairs and trying to restart a number of major development projects in the philippines themselves. now, manila isn't naive, it knows china won't be the grand solution to its development needs, but it also knows that china is not a significant danger to talk in security if relations are manage well. so ultimately, i don't see marco's enthusiastically joining a sheet of things, recent call for local security initiative, which major has pr
