she is called josephine miller, the famous battlefield girl. you can imagine my excitement when one day -- i don't remember what year it was, maybe someday in the 1980's -- at a local flea market, i found a local album with a photograph of josephine miller in it, so i have my own famous battlefield girl photograph. there she is, about 1865. reunion,, in the 1913 general sickles made his headquarters at the rogers house, the rebuilt rogers house. this is not the original. this is where the rogers house stood. the sherfy family on emmitsburg road is one of the more famous families. really is one of the people in our community who made out pretty well after the battle. the battle was fought in his peach orchard. he produced peaches, and after the battle he increased the size of the peach orchard and sold peaches of the famous peach orchard. stand aced down -- had a out front and did really well selling peaches. every once in a while, somebody would come up and he would sell them the last jar of peaches from the 1863 peach orchard.
