shane bower, her friends and josh fattal, who were all three hiking near the border. sarah shourd says they were walking by the border and were arrested as spies. >> i am shocked and upset that there could still be questions in iran and who we were, about what we were doing in syria and northern iraq. >> reporter: speaking in berkeley today she said the three did nothing wrong, did no wrong, and came there particular of a passion for justice and peace. they were taken to a prison in iran. >> we were forced apart for the first time. we hung to each other, linked arms and held each other and we screamed because we didn't want to be separated. we were separated and we were thrown in different cells, all of us alone for the next month. >> reporter: in prison they learned to stay connected, she says, even when they couldn't see one another. they are connected still, she says. >> i can see them in their small cell with very little slight. they get out only once a day for an hour into a courtyard. i can see how small and how trapped they are. and i know how they feel. >> rep
