josh what is your top trade? >> ah, ford looks really interesting.is is a clear breakout on a daily and weekly chart. not a stock people talk enough about. quite frankly, it plays into a lot of the different themes in cross currents that are going on right now. and it just gets back to what the general trend of the market is going to be, in my view, what we're not witnessing is anything extraordinary. it's mean reversion, the market multiple had been depressed going back to 2010, because there was always the next crisis. right now, what you're seeing are investors are rejecting that thee th thesis is the next black hole next week. it's getting back to where it was ç1970s. ford should work in those circumstan circumstances. it should do as well as the large cap market. >> guy? >> one of the sectors left for dead has been defense. we sort of talked about it in the fall. i think lockheed martin is starting to get its mojo back. it is at a three-year high here and i think it still has room to run. >> got it. okay, for the seventh trade session, worst lo

trading this hour, steve, pete, don and josh brown as well. how about that. answer that question. >> no. i think it's actually very, very different than 1999. i was there. so -- that was -- okay. so, from a stop perspective, not from a venture capital perspective, here are the major differences. one, it's not growth companies leading. it's defense i haves, bond proxies. 1999, the s&p was sporting a 30 some odd earnings multiple. right now, we're fighting over whether it should be 15 or 16. i think the parallels continue. they're not there and when you look at things like earnings, we're earning about 30 or 40% more than we were on the s&p, so we have a lower multiple, much higher profits and the fed on your side. the fed was about to go the other way back then. we don't want to look at these other periods like 1995 or the '80s and say oh, this is the same kind of market because of this, that and the other thing. >> there's that saying, if you don't learn from history, you're damned to repeat it. pete, are we 1999? >> i don't think we are yet. i think there's

josh lipton is here with the highlights. josh? >> that's right, kayla.per of an lon cnbc thi morning, talking about the u.s. economy, which he says is getting better. take a listen to what he had to say. >> it's so overwhelming. the economy is getting better, autos are better, housing's better. it continues to improve. they can't find enough people to work in housing, is the only thing holding it back right now. >> as for the u.s. stock market, tepper remains bullish and said investors shouldn't worry about the fed tapering its bond buying program. tepper saying if the fed doesn't taper, they were going to get into a hyperdrive market. it's a backwards argument, tepper explained, to keep the markets going up at a steady pace, the fed has to taper back. by his math, there is some $400 billion in the economy, searching for a place to go, stocks are one of those places. tepper saying he would be nervous to short anything in this environment. remember, tepper's appearance on cnbc in december 2010 sparked what some called the tepper rally. he said at the time

i'm sure josh has begun to see some of those conversations in maryland. in states like oregon and washington would end that impact the premium cost not going to be as great as expected but in other states there is, in fact, a fear as elaine suggested, that the size of the benefit that is now required as a result of the aca will, in fact, be more costly than people have experienced in the past, even with essentially the protections are provided in the law which is set to rate. you essentially the requirement of guaranteed issue, no pre-existing conditions. things of that nature that some believe will, in fact, increase the price of those products. so the question as to whether or not people will participate will be based on their knowledge. we also know that there are very few people who fundamentally really understand what it is that is required under the law. and what expectations will be for them. all the polling that suggests that is a large percentage of people who don't yet know what is in the aca, and so again this may come as a surprise to some. yo

josh lipton in the middle of it all. what's taking this market lower today, josh? >> well, maria, as you and bill mentioned, we are in the red here, though it offsets your lows. down 179 on the dow at the lows of the session, now down 105. in part, traders saying it has to do with the financials, investors betting that rising rates, a steeper yield curve will benefit the banks. the financials do make up about 16% of the s&p 500. on the other hand, however, utilities less attractive as rates rise. and dow utilities, actually entering correction territory today. down about 10% from that april 30th intra-day high. reits also down today, lowest in about a month and a half. also big forpharma in the red t session. and home builders getting hurt as mortgage rates rise. mortgage rates have jumped significantly in the last four weeks. the itb having its worst day in about six weeks. guys, back to you. >> thank you so much, josh. >> all right. so, have we seen the cover of "usa today" yet? this is this morning's. the headline, "bull run gets solid footing." >> uh-oh! i don'
