news channel 8's josh thomas joins us now live from the scene. josh, what are detectives saying about the crash and injuries? >> reporter: well, right now, as you can see be behind me here, crime scene investigators are still on the scene. you can see the vehicle involved in the crash. the officer, one from tampa and one from st. petersburg were out looking for stolen cars as part of the auto theft task force. they were tracking down -- actually traveling down central avenue when they were t-boned at 54th street north. as it turns out, the car that hit them had been stolen but they were not actually looking for that vehicle. there were six people in the vehicle, four females and two males ages 15 to 25 years old. >> there is no ring. and you just got a bunch of kids that think it's a cool thing to do. so everybody thinks, okay, let's go out and see if we can find a car. >> reporter: now the 25-year- hospital. the two officers who were involved are bruised but they are in stable condition and we should note that central avenue as you can see behin
