he's looking or what josh and steve are doing, at least josh is buying. >> yeah. you have to look at tech in two different cat goregories in thi environment and many of those fall into the ark category and then as you mentioned, scott, the large cap tech stocks so those two things are very different, but we have seen a small correction in some of the large-cap tech stocks. take microsoft, for example. i think it was down almost 6% this year to date period, but still at 50% for the one-year period so seeing a relatively minor correction that i think for the investors with a long-term time horizon and those looking to add more to some of these names and this is a bad spot for those that are putting money to work, this represents a decent opportunity to add more to those companies, but i would be loathed to recommend adding a lot to unprofitable tech companies because i think that is where the valuation gets trickier and we don't know exactly where things will ultimately shake out there it's hard to have a story to support a floor in the valuation story in many cases

josh, i'll start with you. it's another day where the president is going to have to explain why this month's jobs report is a bit lower than what economists had predicted. what are you hearing from the white house about what we can expect to hear from the president? >> well, i think you're going to hear president biden put a focus on how even if the last couple months have fallen short of what economists hoped for. that the basic direction of the economy is going in the way that they want it. that the signs are moving in the right direction. so you'll likely hear an emphasis from president biden about how if you zoom out to the last calendar year, they've been able to create 6.4 million jobs that unemployment rate dropping to 3.9%. approaching what economists would describe as full unemployment. and other signs, of progress in the economy, slight increases in wages as well as consistent participation in the labor force. i think you also may hear president biden try to temper some of the disappointment by talkin

josh, you're a holder.w on this note, and have you been tempted to take profits or sticking with it >> you know, i read the note and i agree with almost everything that he's saying as far as the challenges facing this company the average transaction size is coming down. there's a very tight correlation between paypal's average transaction and that of visa/mastercard. they tend to line up really well, and we have data from those other companies so we know that that's a headwind we also know that with the re-opening there's just less e-commerce as a percentage of the overall mix and paypal's not as big in person, although they're trying to be with qr codes. so i agree with what he's saying the thing is the stock has already been cut in half so how much of that, how much of those headwinds are already appreciated by the investors in this that imand already priced in and maybe that's where i disagree with jeffreys i think a lot of that is in this stock when you look at how rapidly it came down from 320 to 180.
